Canva is an easy-to-use, powerful graphic design tool. I have personally used it for about five years. If you are wondering if you should upgrade your account to Canva Pro, then my short answer is – absolutely, yes. To me, a Canva Pro account isn’t a monthly expenditure – it is a monthly investment in my business.
The free version of Canva is a great way to get acclimated to the software. It is good for small projects here and there. But if you are a blogger, a creative entrepreneur, or are trying to DIY your own marketing materials, you can save so much time and energy in the long run by investing in a Canva Pro account.
My Favorite Canva Pro Features
One-Click Background Remover
The one-click background remover is a major time-saver and one of my favorite features. It is precise and easy to use.
The picture I edited was a timed selfie I took on my phone, and then with one-click, I edited the background out. Now I have the isolated image of myself to use in social media graphics.
One-Click Resize
If you spend a lot of time creating social media graphics, you know how much of a pain it is to create graphics that look good across all platforms. One-click resize is any social media manager or creators dream tool. This feature will save you so much time.
Use a template to create a design in one size, like a Pinterest pin, and then with one-click, you can copy the design and resize it to a Facebook post size. Make some minor tweaks, and then boom! done. Turn the same design into an Instagram Story, and then a Tweet. It will make your workflow so much easier.
Brand Kit
Whether you are managing a single brand or multiple brands, the Canva Pro brand kit will streamline your brand elements so they are easy to access when creating your designs.
When you add your brand colors to your brand kit, they will be easily accessible in your color picker when you are adding colors to your designs. Without this feature, you will have to manually search for your color hex codes each time, which is not ideal.
Export Files with Transparent Backgrounds
Being able to easily export .PNG files with a transparent background is a must-have feature available in Canva Pro. It is a one-click export, with no need for other complex tools.
Creating designs with transparent backgrounds helps create clean, versatile, and professional logos and elements.
Premium Photos, Music, Videos, Illustrations & More
While the free version of Canva has an extensive library of assets such as photos, video, elements, and more, the Pro version goes far beyond.
Having all of these assets in one place makes the design process so simple. It also helps save space, both in your Canva account and on your desktop, minimizing your downloads and disk space.
The assets really span the gamut, giving you the necessary resources to fulfill your vision, from boho watercolor to glamorous metallics, from retro styles to modern, minimalist line drawings.
Explore videos, musical styles, and artistic elements, and create your own style and branding with the Pro library. It will definitely provide you with #designinspo.
Shareable (and Sellable) Templates
If you want to create sellable Canva templates or freebies for your site, then you will need a Pro account.
Canva Pro accounts allow you to share your design as a template via a special link, so it can be shared as many times as you want and the original file won’t be affected.
Some examples of opt-in freebies I have made with Canva include my free DIY Brand Web Toolkit and my free DIY Mood Board.
